Aoltbeer no. 03-2022 - black currants

Aoltbeer, also known as Münstersch Alt, is the historic sour beer of the city of Münster, Westphalia. It is a mixed-fermented, barrel-aged beer with a vinous character. The sourness comes from our own house culture of wild yeasts and lactic acid bacteria. A relationship to Belgian Geuze and Berliner Weisse cannot be denied.

This blend matures for an average of 12 months in red wine barrels. We picked the cherries in our garden and received the blackcurrants from organic farmer Maria Plagge. Bottled in July 2022, 910 bottles.
